Library Book Rate

We use the Canada Post library book rate for shipping library books. This applies only to book loans. Non-book items, such as audio-visuals, must be sent by regular mail or courier.

How to Return Resource Centre Books to Literacy BC (no postage required)

  1. Your shipment of library books will arrive with a return mailing label and instructions on how to return them.

  2. Package your books in a suitable envelope or box designed for shipping.

  3. Cut the return mailing label on the dotted line and retain the bottom half for tracking purposes.

  4. Tape the label so it appears squarely on the largest side of the envelope or box. Do not tape over any part of the barcode on the label.

  5. Take the parcel to a Canada Post retail outlet – or deposit in a Street Letter Box. No postage is required.

Things to Consider

  • You may wish to keep the envelope your books arrived in and use it to return the shipment

  • If you receive more than one shipment of books, be sure to return the books that arrived together with the appropriate mailing label.

  • If you wish to renew most of your books but have to return one item (due to a recall), you may choose to send that one by regular post, and save the label for the greater bulk of the resources.

  • The book rate does not apply to non-book materials such as videos, DVDs, cassettes, or CD-ROMs. These are shipped by regular post.
