A new Workforce Education Initiative is continuing the work of the 1995 Foundation Skills Project. The project is managed by Literacy B.C. and funded by the National Literacy Secretariat.
The Initiative has two goals:
- To provide B.C. with a central source of information about workforce literacy programs, practitioners, and resources. A database of workforce literacy practitioners, resources, programs, clients, and funders is in development. A listing of relevant workforce literacy resource materials has been completed and is available for distribution.
- To stimulate greater awareness, dialogue and action about workforce literacy among business, specific industrial sectors, labour, government, educators, and other stakeholders in B.C. Promotional materials, meetings with stakeholders, and a series of discussion forums are planned.
