Literacy materials are part of a new on-line database of educational resources developed in B.C.
The QuERI (Quality Educational Resources Inventory) database is designed to make exemplary material developed by B.C. educators widely known and accessible. The database contains descriptions of over 1,300 multi-media literacy, vocational, and academic resources. It also includes resources on topics such as: prior learning assessment, distance education, computer-assisted learning, and life skills, as well as professional development materials.
QUERI is produced by Langara College and funded by the Centre for Curriculum and Professional Development, the Ministry of Education, Skills and Training (MOEST) and the Vancouver Foundation.
The literacy materials on QUERI include all the products of B.C. literacy cost-shared projects since 1987. Among them are the entire Literacy Materials Bulletin collection and other resources on topics such as family literacy, workplace literacy, and First Nations literacy. The resources include reports, journals, research studies, learning materials, learners' writings, public awareness kits and videos.
Each QUERI record contains comprehensive information about the resource, including a brief summary of its content and directions about where to obtain it.
All of the cost-shared literacy materials on QUERI are held in the Literacy B.C. resource library. Additional selected literacy materials from the resource library, including materials on literacy and technology, are also catalogued on QUERI. The cataloguing of literacy materials was made possible by grants from the National Literacy Secretariat and MOEST. Money will be made available each year to continue cataloguing new cost-shared resources.
