| Support for adult learners in B.C. |
In order to increase support for and participation by learners
in the literacy movement in B.C., we will undertake the following activities:
- Support and coordinate the activities of the Provincial
Learners Committee.
- Plan and implement an action research project on How to Build
a Provincial Learners Network
- Publish two issues of a newsletter directly focused on
learners’ events, projects and activities
- Develop a closer relationship/partnership with the annual
B.C. Regional Learner events
In addition, we will continue to:
- Make sure that at least 25% of the Literacy BC board are
learners
- Mentor and support learners who participate on provincial and
national boards and committees
- Provide support and publicity to the annual Co-operators
Learner Achievement Award
- Continue our partnership with ABC CANADA in a national
longitudinal research study on recruitment and retention in literacy programs.

- Provide leadership and support to an electronic conferencing
and communication network for B.C
- Provide leadership and support to the development of a
regional and national electronic conferencing system
- Provide a unique, relevant and responsive provincial literacy
resource and information centre
- Provide consultation, support and coordination for the
development of regional literacy networks
- Plan a provincial Conference and Forum for the Fall 2000 and
celebrate Literacy BC’s 10th anniversary
