Literacy Volunteers
Needed
Laubach Literacy of Canada trains tutors then matches them
with adults who wish to improve their reading, writing and math skills.
Volunteer tutors take a 12-hour workshop, then spend one or two hours per week
with a student on a one-to-one basis. The Laubach system of tutoring is ideally
suited for motivated learners who have not been successful in classroom
situations. Laubach is also seeking executive members for the Vancouver Council
and for other centres across B.C. The tasks may include assessing students,
matching tutors with students and helping manage a literacy council.
