Take 5 and Read; Make Time for Literacy

Once again this year Literacy BC and the B.C. Library Association (BCLA) are partners in the annual Take 5 and Read campaign for International Literacy Day, September 8.

On this special day, we urge you to “stop what you are doing, pick up a book, a community newspaper, anything – and READ.”

Across B.C., libraries, community literacy groups and students are hosting events to celebrate literacy and draw attention to the importance of literacy in our lives. We have distributed Take 5 and Read information packages, including posters and bookmarks, to public libraries, community literacy organizations, programs using volunteer tutors, and community newspapers throughout the province. If you haven’t received a kit and would like one, be sure to let us know (1-800-663-1293).
