Literacy's Time is Now!

Included with this issue of Imprints are the Federal Literacy Facts from the Movement for Canadian Literacy (MCL). These news updates clearly outline the themes and activities emerging from the federal Skills and Learning Agenda announced in January 2001. We urge you to read these fact sheets. The opportunity for us to move the literacy issue forward has never been better!

MCL has prepared a Literacy Action Campaign Toolkit which provides templates and sample outreach items to support local fall initiatives in the lead-up to Literacy Action Day on Parliament Hill, October 25th.

This kit is now available from the MCL web site. The Tool Kit is full of valuable resources for you to use during your International Literacy Day activities and during the month of September. Please make use of this "window of opportunity" to encourage the support of your local MP and your community. This support is needed now to create a national literacy strategy.
