What Works! will provide a chance for those involved in literacy education to meet with their peers and discuss techniques, research, approaches and adaptive technology for literacy. Audrey Thomas, Provincial Literacy Coordinator, Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology is one of 16 presenters. Featured speakers are CBC Radio broadcaster and journalist Rex Murphy, and Paul Gallagher, educator, public policy consultant and President of Literacy BC.

AERC 2000 — International Adult Education Research Conference

An international conference involving five research organizations from Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Australia and Europe. Audrey Thomas from the Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology, and Sandy Middleton from Literacy BC, Marina Niks from UBC, and Tom Nesbitt from SFU are participants in the roundtable sessions called, “From the Bottom Up: Developing a Literacy Practitioner Research Network in B.C.”

A number of pre-conference sessions are free. These include, Enhancing Adult Literacy Research on June 1.
This session offers an opportunity to strengthen research enterprise and to create bridges among the members of different adult education associations and to initiate a sharing of research interests and projects.
