Family Literacy Week in Squamish

Friday, January 25

Squamish Reads
The Squamish Chief, Capilano College and the Squamish Public Library have partnered to bring you this literacy fundraiser. Buy a newspaper from a newstand or celebrity paper carrier on Friday 25th January and you will be supporting local literacy initiatives. The paper will include a wrap-around focusing on literacy.

Friday, January 25

Book and Art Auction
6.00 - 9.00 pm, Pepe and Gringo's Restaurant, 40359 Tantalus Road, Squamish
Organised by Capilano College Tourism Event Management Students. Auction items generously donated by David Suzuki, Mary Billy, Oliver Roy, Chili Tom, Greg griffith and others. Proceeds to the Squamish Reads initiative. For more information, call Sarah Goodwin on 604-892-5322.

Literacy Cafe: Little Authors Pajama Party
6.15 - 8.00 pm, Chef Big D's restaurant, 38040 Cleveland Avenue, Squamish
Write a story and read it, or just come out and enjoy! All children will receive a special bedtime bookbag with giveaways.

Wednesday, January 30

Breakfast of Champions
7:30 – 9.00 am, Squamish Public Library
Speaker: Diana Twiss, Literacy BC (with Marilyn Caldwell, School District 48 and Michelle Lebeau, Regional Literacy Coordinator). Topic: The Emerging Literacy Landscape.
