Background The Office of Literacy and Essential Skills (OLES), Human Resources and Social Development Canada issued a call for proposals on August 21, 2007. OLES was created in April 2007, bringing the Essential Skills Initiative and the National Office of Literacy and Learning into one organization. The call for proposals has two streams: Literacy and Essential Skills for Work, and Family and Community Literacy. The presentation and roundtable will be of interest to members of non-profit and voluntary sector organizations, professional associations, provincial/territorial institutions, educational and training bodies including universities and colleges, employers, unions, and municipalities, among others.
