In conjunction with the Breakfast this year, Shaw TV’s Fanny Kiefer Show focused on literacy on a conversation with two special guests -- Dr. Cappon from the Canadian Council on Learning, and Ellen Szita, long-time B.C. literacy advocate and champion. Dr. Cappon presented highlights from the CCL Report and Ellen spoke eloquently and candidly about her personal experiences as a literacy learner.

Libraries across B.C. celebrated Family Literacy Day with events that promoted the importance of reading as a family. To mark Family Literacy Day, Education Minister Shirley Bond took part in a family storytime at her local library in Prince George. See news release here.
