2007 Council of the Federation (COF) Award

Joan Acosta, founder, writer and editor of The Westcoast reader, a newspaper for adult literacy and ESL learners since 1982, was named winner of the 2007 COF Literacy Award. Congratulations, Joan!

The 2007 Cooperators Provincial Learner Achievement Award

Rav Bal of Nanaimo was named this year’s recipient of the Co-operators Award, which recognizes the outstanding achievements of an adult learner in BC. At 27, Rav went back to school, overcame significant learning challenges to achieve first class marks and is now completing Grade 12.
