Coming in January …

A Celebration of Family Literacy

Family Literacy Day and Family Literacy Week will be celebrated in BC from January 21-27, 2008.

As it has for the past nine years, the provincial Ministry of the Attorney General has officially declared January 27 to be Family Literacy Day in British Columbia.

2008 Breakfast of Champions

To mark Family Literacy Day, please join us for the ninth annual “Breakfast of Champions” on Friday, January 25 at the Vancouver Public Library.

The Breakfast is an opportunity to honour and celebrate the champions of family literacy and learning in BC and is the flagship event of Family Literacy Week in British Columbia. Key representatives from government, school districts, libraries, business, labour and organizations with an interest in families and learning will be in attendance.

The family literacy celebration is a week-long series of workshops, talks and events in the Lower Mainland and other parts of the province. Stay tuned for the full Family Literacy Week 2008 program to be posted on our web site in early January.

Families are invited to register now for Write On! – an afternoon of literacy activities for children, at the Vancouver Public Library on Saturday, January 26. View the Write On! flyer with all the details.
